Mawgan Porth Beach
- info
- weather & tides
Mawgan Porth beach is just far enough from Newquay (4 miles) to avoid the crowds and summer excesses, yet benefit from the same golden sands and beautiful coastline. The beach here is sheltered by high cliffs to each side and at low tide there is ample sand for everyone, even on the busiest of days.
Mawgan Porth is a great family beach with lots of rockpools, caves and even a large stream running down the southern side of the beach. In terms of facilities there is everything you would expect from one of the region’s best beaches including disabled access.
There is seasonal lifeguard cover at Mawgan Porth and whilst swimming is generally safe this is also a popular surfing beach so is fairly exposed to the Atlantic swells.

Brilliant for families

Nov 25th 2020We have been holidaying in Mawgan Porth for over thirty years since our children were knee high to a donkey. There is a wide range of accommodation available and there are houses and cottages being developed and improved each year. There is a big expanse of sand and surfing at low and mid tide is normally brilliant. There is a small number of shops and cafes along with a small number of hotels. Every year we walk to the spectacular National Trust site at Bedruthen Steps where you will find a National Trust cafe and car park. Newquay and Padstow are close by

Aug 05th 2022We recently visited for the first time, in peak season and we wernt sure what to expect.
It was very busy, but didn’t feel over crowded at all.
We managed to park but I’d suggest coming early as it was very busy.
The beach is dog friendly, which is why we visited.
There are caves, rock pools and a little stream running down to the sea, and plenty of sandy beach.
There are public toilets close to the beach and a few shops/cafes.
Great Beach

Jul 03rd 2022Whenever in Cornwall always find ourselves coming back here. Lovely clean beach with shops, restaurants and toilets close by. Even better is its dog friendly. Just get there early during peak season to get parked in the main car park, past 10am and it’ll be close to full!
Wonderful beach!
