Porthkidney - surfing

At the western end of Porthkidney is Hawk's Point, or Dork's Point as it is sometimes referred.

When there is a (really) big north coast swell and the wind is anything from due south to west Hawk's could be firing. The only problem is everybody knows it! Hawk's seems to be particularly popular with inexperienced surfers and recently seems to be the preferred spot of many lady surfers!

Hawk's Point also seems to be the embodiment of the 'sheep syndrome'. If you paddle away from the crowd people tend to follow you!

Having said all that, on a good day Hawk's can provide quality waves. Long walling rights with the occassional barrel down the beach and a punchy, wedgey left at higher tides towards the point.
